Training for Therapists

Dear fellow therapists,

We know how deeply you care about and want to support your ADHD clients.

With so much information out there, it can be so hard to know where to start. As ADHD’ers and therapists ourselves, we get it.

And, here’s the thing: ADHD’ers deserve to have more spaces where their authentic selves are welcomed and empowered to thrive. Where they can be truly seen in their experiences and offered the opportunity to step outside shaming and pathologizing labels.  Especially in the therapy room.

Being Neurodivergent-Affirming is a deeply intersectional and important part of working with your ADHD clients. We want to support you to meet them in their authentic experience.

That’s where we come in.

Who this is for:

You’re a therapist, social worker, or other mental health professional who is noticing that:

  • Your ADHD clients are often stuck in cycles of overwhelm, shame, or burnout

  • Mainstream strategies aren’t working—or worse, are causing harm

  • You want to do better, but need more than just checklists and CBT worksheets

You want your work to be affirming, trauma-informed, and grounded in equity and care.

You want to support ADHD clients in a way that celebrates who they are, not who the world says they should be.

Meet your facilitators

Hi, we're Amelia and Ciara (pronounced Kira).

We are therapists & proud ADHDers living and working on unceded lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ traditional territories in Victoria, B.C.

It is our passion to help folks from a trauma-informed, intersectional perspective, and we firmly believe in the power of healing in community.

Our work is rooted in supporting our fellow ADHDers to find a supportive community amongst the oppressive systems we’re forced to live in. We’re big believers in honouring the unique context of our lives and are big system-thinkers.

The truth is: ADHD is political.

The cultural story we are sold about ADHD is highly based on capitalistic & colonial values, where certain traits are prized and others are pathologized.

We have heard from countless clients the ways in which systems (including therapy) have been harmful, and we are determined to make a change. Together, we have co-facilitated 8 rounds of our successful Unmasking group for ADHD’ers, as well as an ongoing support group for alumni. We are forever curious and engage in ongoing education & supervision to continue in our own learning journeys.
